Maybank Visa Debit Card : Does it worth A Credit?

by Admin on January 11, 2009

Maybank introduces you with the new Visa Debit Card last month. It’s not new, I’ve applied already and posted on my previous blog before. For the moment, I owned TuneMoney card and Public Bank Visa Debit card and Maybank Visa Debit Card. The most well used by me was the Public Bank card.

Since I’m doing local transactions with Maybank2U, this card should be a great benefit for me, as I can combine the card with my saving accounts, which I can say, I can buy almost anything, worldwide. I don’t have to go and transfer cash into the other bank card just for shopping. They’re all can be done online. If you noticed, the charges when we withdraw cash from other ATM machine is different compared to withdrawing from our saving account cards. It’s kinda expensive and does not worth the withdrawal. Maybank ATM is anywhere, I can easily withdraw more! Haha.. And the most benefit is, I’ve already get used with the interface of Maybank2U account, and I’ll maybe get used with this easily.

How get the Maybankard Visa Debit?

Visit Maybank branch nearest to you and fill up the application form and choose Maybankard Visa Debit when you open a Current or Savings Account. Existing Current and Savings Account customer can apply for Maybankard Visa Debit. For security control, the card daily spending limit for PIN based card defaulted to RM5,000 maximum. It looks like my bank card getting older, and I’m interested in converting the previous ATM card to this card. The conversion fees will be around RM12.

What About the Charges?

  • The first four (4) cash withdrawals in a month at anyMaybank ATM Free
  • The fifth cash withdrawal and thereafter in a month at any Maybank ATM RM0.50 per withdrawal
  • Cash withdrawal at other domestic banks’ ATMs via Bankcard platform RM1 per withdrawal
  • Cash withdrawal at international banks’ ATM via PLUS platform RM12 per withdrawal
  • E-Balance enquiry, Fund transfer to any Maybank account, Local cheque deposit, Cash deposit, etc. Free
  • Transfers from Credit Card to Current account, Savings account, etc. Flat rate of 5.00% of the total amount of cash advance, Minimum RM10
  • Maybank MEPS ATM shared Network cash withdrawal RM1
  • Bill Payment at ATMs/CDMs using Bar Code Reader RM0.50 per transaction

Okay, what’s the big deal with the card?

Well updated, Public Bank Visa Electron card is still strong with the most preferred debit card. Should why I choose Public Bank is just because this Maybank card is not able for online transaction, which means, you can’t made online transaction, nor verify paypal using the card. That’s the bad side, but however, it’s nice to have this card. I am going to rate this card 3/5 stars. Till then.
